An interactive journey through time and space to discover the history of the iconic St. Peter's Basilica.

St. Peter’s Basilica is one of the world’s most iconic cultural landmarks, filled with centuries of art and craftsmanship. For students, though, that scale and history can feel distant or intimidating.

The Vatican’s artisans, the Sanpietrini, preserve this heritage using advanced tools and expertise, and our challenge was to bring their work to life in a way that felt authentic and engaging.

Our Strategy

We built the experience around immersion and roleplay. Students step into the role of Sanpietrini, equipped with simulated AI tools to scan, repair, and preserve artworks inside Minecraft. Each mechanic reflects real restoration methods but is reimagined through playful, accessible gameplay.

To balance this, we added an exploration mode that lets students freely wander the Basilica, uncover hidden stories, and appreciate its scale. By blending hands-on restoration with open discovery, the project turns learners into active guardians of cultural heritage.

The Results
